Why it’s called Teabowl

Posted on | December 13, 2007 | No Comments

I like drinking tea. A couple of years ago, I (painfully) weened myself off of coffee and started to drink only tea. I became a tea snob, learned all about the different varietals, and bought my tea in loose leaf form at specialist tea stores. I discovered one of those delightfully nerdy sub-cultures and jumped right in. I’ve been known to explain the difference between Assam and Darjeeling during corridor conversations at the office, much – I’m sure – to everyone’s complete ennui.

So Teabowl seemed like a nice domain to register. The original idea was to make a website about tea, because there aren’t very many.

These days, I’m drinking more coffee again. I still love tea, but I missed the kick and robust flavour of really good coffee. Teabowl’s still a nice word. And a tea bowl is a very pretty Japanese drinking vessel.
